So, after 3 weeks of waiting for the results of my blood test, it finally came in today. Overall, I’m pleased with the results. However, it seems that my total cholesterol is on the high side which I wasn’t expecting. Here are the results:
Fasting Glucose: 94 Normal Range: 70-105
Total Cholesterol: 274 Normal Range: 0-200
HDL Cholesterol: 53 Normal Range: 40-60
Non HDL Cholesterol: 221 Normal Range: 0-160
LDL Cholesterol: 206 Normal Range: 0-130
Triglycerides: 75 Normal Range: 0-150
Now that I have my results (finally), I can get my consult underway with Amy and see what she thinks of these numbers. I’m a little upset about my total cholesterol numbers, but overall, I’m happy with the results since my fasting glucose and trigs are well within the healthy range. I’m still waiting for my old blood work to compare to but I’ll post those as soon as I get them.
*UPDATE* I was able to dig up my old blood work from two years ago when I wasn’t eating a paleo diet. Unfortunately, I only was able to get a basic lipid panel that contains: Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and Triglycerides. The results are as follows:
Total Cholesterol: 198
HDL Cholesterol: 45
LDL Cholesterol: 117
Triglycerides: 178
So as you can see from these results compared to the most recent test, that my overall cholesterol numbers went up, but my Triglycerides went down by over 100 points, which I’m ecstatic about. We’ll see how my results change in future tests.
